Emmerdale and Waterloo Road star Adam Thomas will head to Stoke-on-Trent this December for Nativity the Musical
After a successful television career, which included a 3-year stint on BBC’s Waterloo Road and becoming a series regular on Emmerdale for nearly nine years, Manchester-born Adam Thomas is leaving the screen behind (at least for a while) for the bright lights of theatre.
And his stage debut has come in the form of the smash hit festive show Nativity the Musical.
“It feels very good to be part of the cast, it’s been going for a while and it’s been a spectacular show. I feel very lucky,” says Thomas. “I only have a little cameo in it but just to be a part of a cast with such professionals – it’s going to be good fun.”
He will play the role of the ‘Hollywood Producer’, a part that Danny Dyer and Jake Wood will also take on in London and Oxford respectively, during the show’s stint at The Regent Theatre in Stoke-on-Trent from Wednesday 5th December to Saturday 8th December.
“I’m not sure if i’m playing in American yet, my American accent isn’t great but i’m going to give it a go! Just to be given the opportunity to play the role is good enough for me and it’s my son’s favourite film as well!”
The 30-year-old soap star said that live shows will take some getting used to.
“It’s obviously going to be a bit different from doing TV work as you know you get a second chance but this one it’s one take and one take only so it’s going to be a bit daunting but i’m looking forward to it. It’s going to be exciting and if you don’t try it you’ll never know!”
And fans should be prepared for his singing…
“I can’t sing!” says Thomas. “It’s going to be challenge but i’m up for it and looking forward to it!”
Also starring in the show is returning fan-favourite Simon Lipkin as the hilarious ‘Mr Poppy’, Scott Garnham will play ‘Mr Maddens’ and Ashleigh Gray will play ‘Jennifer Lore’. Joining them will be Andy Barke, Andy Brady, Jamie Chapman, Jemma Churchill, Gary Davis, Kade Ferraiolo, Ashleigh Graham, Helena Pipe and Oscar Conlon-Morrey.
The adult company are joined by the following children aged 9 – 12 from across the Midlands as the pupils of ‘St Bernadette’s School’; Ami Bakayoko , Evie Bennell-Low, Niamh Brady, Demi Delord, Joseph Duffy, Tommy Gallagher, Alexander Hogg, Kheiri Isaac-Osmani, Betsy Jiggins, Ben Lee, Marlie Olivia Love, Harry Martin, Joshua Millard-Lloyd, Jasmine McKenna, Amy-Louise Mulhall, Celie Newman, Gerald Ngwenya, Lyla Peters, Katelyn-Janet Rollason, Aston Sidwell, Nicholas Vakis and Angeli Yunesse Sagala.
