Local runners are in training for the Stafford 10K on Sunday 23rd September in support of Action for Children UK – find out more details below
An American-based cyber recruitment firm, Code Red Partners, has organised more than 60 runners to take part in the Stafford 10K on Sunday 23rd September in aid of Action for Children UK.
The race forms part of the company’s charity initiative, The Code Red Charity Cup, which has been set up by the company’s co-founder and Action for Children board member, Tom Alcock. He said: “All the runners will be running and raising important donations for Action for Children UK. Many of our runners haven’t run more than a couple of kilometres before, so the comradery on the lead up to the race has been really exciting.
“I have been organising a weekly/ twice weekly running club for the runners to train locally, which has been great fun. Our youngest runner is 18 and our oldest is 61!
“There will be prizes for 1st Place Male, First Place female and best fancy dress for those taking part in the charity cup. We are looking to raise over £3000,” adds Tom.
The race is the first of two big events in the UK this year that the charity cup will be involved with. They are also planning to take part in ‘Byte Night,’ the UK’s largest corporate sleep out event, in Birmingham in October.
The 2018 Stafford 10K will start in Stafford town centre at 10.30am on Sunday 23rd September. The route will take runners past the Stafford Leisure Centre, Beaconside, the Isabel Trail, Victoria Park and will finish in Market Square.
