We’ve been tasting an exciting new snacking product and you might think it’s nothing short of genius…
We’ve all had a nice hearty bowl of warm nachos, but now you can experience the same comforting experience from crisps. Yes, you heard me right! Crisps that you can heat in the microwave have been launched by artisan snack company, Fairfields Farm.
Perhaps you have been doing this for years off your own back? It is, after all, a simple idea, but when the box arrived at LIVING HQ, we were thrown into a state of mild panic, crying out to each other: “Why have we never done this before!?” And the next thing we did was to get them in the microwave – even if it was only 10.30 am in the morning.
Giving a whole new meaning to the term, ‘chips and dips’, the heat-in-the-bag crisps come in two flavour variations, each with an accompanying dip pot hidden in the bag; Sea Salted with Tomato Salsa Dip and Cheese & Chive with Caramelised Onion Dip.
Each bag contains 175g of hand-cooked crisps and a 50g dip so they are sharing size, although you could easily polish off a bag to yourself… To prepare the warming teat, you just tear open the bag along the special strip, remove the dip, stand the bag upright in the microwave and cook for 30 seconds. Voila!
As a self-confessed crisp addict, I was very tempted by these bags of joy, and honestly, I’m not sure there could be a better update to the nation’s favourite snack. The crisps are packaged in a special, microwavable bag that can easily stand upright in any microwave, and while the crisps get lovely and warm, the bag itself does not.
The crisps retain a nice crunch, and the dips are well-suited to the flavours, although we thought the caramelised dip went well with the sea salted crisps too. They are a tasty, quick snack that is ideal for munching on while you get ready for a night out with friends or just as an office treat.
Heat & Eat™ is available now in Tesco for an RRP £2.49 for 175g bag (which includes a 50g dip).
