Aint No Angels debuts at Stoke on Trent’s Rep Theatre this month, and here’s all you need to know about it!
Ain’t No Angels tells the story of what could happen if Frank Sinatra and Al Jolson met up in heaven – or hell, and it’s coming to the Rep Theatre in Stoke on Trent next week.
Audiences will witness actor, Chris Wolverson, play 28 different parts in the show, from an Italian gangster to a camp hairdresser, as well as portrayals of Dean Martin and Bing Crosby, and to achieve this goal, he has to wear a lot of hats!
The semi-professional production of this new play with music, presented by Role-Play Productions, tells the life stories of the two greats and is bursting with some of Jolson and Sinatra’s most famous songs.
Devised by musical director, Ken Wragg, the show is directed by Newcastle-based, Brian Rawlins, an adjudicator for The British and International Federation of Festivals.
Chris said: “I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing all these roles. It’s been a new experience for me and I’m enjoying working with such a talented cast, director and musical director.”
He stars alongside professional singers Paul Roberts as Jolson, baritone Paul Lumsden as Sinatra and two actresses – Sian Jones and Lexi Bennett – who also take on several characters. Expect to see Marilyn Monroe, Ava Gardner and Mia Farrow among many others.
Ain’t No Angels is a professional production with a live band on stage and will take the audience through the whole gamut of emotions from laughter to tears – with some great music along the way.
The show runs at The Rep Theatre, Stoke on Trent, from Tuesday 26th to Saturday 30th September at 7.30pm.
